There was a National Geograpbic article about a primitive tribe that used masks and mask-making in their rituals. Every time a new mask was created, it would be brought to a cave where all the retired masks had been placed. They called this huge pile of masks the "Mother of Masks". The first version was painted only using 3 colors per Marvin's vision. I later used many colors and retitled it "Dark Is The Mother".

Marvin loved mandalas, and has used it in many different forms.
